You’re a dumbass, the point it’s making is that it is algebra in calculating, it’s just that when we are doing it we are not putting numbers into the equation. It comes naturally from experience. When we do put numbers into an equation we can then do the action better or more efficiently, exactly every time.

What’s the point of taking all the algebra classes I took in high school and college if I could already do it as an infant and there is seldom a need to write it out to make a calculation? If you know take how far you are from the goal, and how hard to throw it, and at what angle to make the shot at. You may just know in your head bc you’ve thrown from there before. You just don’t realize you’re using math to solve your problem. Figuring out your statistics require math as well. Also if you get good at basketball or billiards (pool) you can hustle people for their money. Then you’re calculating how much you can make in one night from the number of people that you compete with.
You’re obviously not going to calculate an entire algebraic equation in your head while playing sports, you think it through, “if I hit it this hard at this angle it should go in” is what they mean, you are doing algebra without actually being conscious about it. Same with throwing something, you think about the strength you use at the length you are from it.
